Charts Overview
This episode, the Vector GFX team walks through building charts directly in canvasxdraw. This is a fast way to turn raw data into visually clear patterns, comparisons, and trends without leaving your document.
What You’ll Learn
Instead of building a chart in a separate spreadsheet program and importing a static image, canvasxdraw lets you create the chart right where you’re working and it stays fully editable, styled to match the rest of your document.
Quick Recap: Creating a Chart
1. Press the Create Chart button on the toolbar to bring in your data.
2. Get your data in however works best for you. Type it directly into the cells, import it from a .csv or .txt file, or copy it straight from a spreadsheet.
3. Choose a preset and chart type. Options include column, line, pie, area, and bar charts, among others.
4. Style it to fit your document. Adjust visual and appearance options and set a chart title before you’re done.
Why It’s Worth Knowing
Data doesn’t communicate on its own. It needs a chart that makes the pattern or comparison obvious at a glance. Building that chart natively in canvasxdraw means it lives in the same document as your other illustrations, matches your styling, and stays editable if the underlying data changes, instead of becoming a flat image you have to regenerate and re-import every time something updates.
